The Committee for Melbourne has released the 2024 Benchmarking Melbourne report, developed with The Business of Cities and supported by JLL. Drawing on over 100 studies and 20 real-time datasets, it tracks Melbourne’s global performance post-pandemic. The findings highlight progress in transport connectivity, higher-density housing near rail, and greener neighbourhood design.
New initiatives such as Build-to-Rent housing and the Future Homes program signal more ambitious steps toward inclusive, sustainable growth. Yet the report stresses the need for a clear, coordinated growth model to ensure future precincts are well connected and serviced, safeguarding competitiveness and quality of life.
